Laughter, cheers and plenty of splashes filled the playground today as students and staff came together for our annual “Sponge a Teacher” event in support of Comic Relief.

The event saw brave members of staff step forward to take part in the much-loved tradition, while students lined up eagerly for the chance to throw a sponge and soak their teachers, all for a fantastic cause! The atmosphere was electric, with huge crowds gathering to watch the action unfold. Students absolutely loved the opportunity to get involved, cheering on their friends and enjoying every splash-filled moment. Staff members took the soaking in great spirits, with some even coming prepared in waterproofs to face the challenge head on.

Most importantly, every sponge thrown helped raise money for Comic Relief, with all funds going towards projects that tackle poverty, social injustice and discrimination both in the UK and around the world. It was a brilliant lunchtime full of fun, community spirit and generosity, well done to everyone who took part and helped make a difference!

📣Attendance: LBS Welcomes New Attendance Officer 📣

We are delighted to welcome Ms Lynette Richards to the role of Attendance Officer at Lordswood Boys' School. Ms Richards brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise with her, having worked in varying roles within education over a period of 20 years. Joining our pastoral and administrative teams, Ms Richards will be working alongside the Heads of Year to reduce absenteeism, ensure compliance with education laws, and support student welfare each and every day in school and also out in the community, while carrying out home visits.   

Ms Richards says, "My role is to support the school in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality for all students. I will work closely with staff, students and families to monitor attendance, identify any barriers to regular school attendance and provide support where it is needed. Regular attendance is key to helping students achieve their full potential and I am here to help ensure every student has the best opportunity to succeed. I look forward to getting to know the students, staff and families, and to be working together to support positive attendance and punctuality across the school."

Please be reminded that your summer exams will take place from Wednesday 29th April until Wednesday 24th June. The full timetable has now been released and is shown below, and all students should check their individual schedules carefully when they receive them at the end of term. It is important to arrive on time for every exam and be fully prepared. Now is the time to step up and really work hard in prepartion for exams, speak to your teachers if you have any questions or concerns.

This week our school community came together for Comic Relief, with the ever-popular “Sponge a Teacher” event bringing plenty of laughter, energy and school spirit. Students loved the chance to get involved while raising money for an important cause that supports projects tackling poverty, social injustice and discrimination in the UK and around the world. It was fantastic to see so many students taking part and supporting the event. Moments like these remind us how powerful it is when our school community comes together for something positive.

Alongside this, we continue to place a strong focus on attendance. Being in school every day gives students the best chance to succeed, stay connected to their learning and take part in the wider opportunities that make school life enjoyable and memorable. Every day in school really does count.
