Why EdTech? and why we felt the need to ask in 2025
I have had the privilege to work at LGfL for over 20 years and I’ve witnessed firsthand how technology, when rooted in pedagogy, can transform both teaching and learning. At the core of our “Why EdTech” vision is a simple belief: technology shouldn’t drive pedagogy—pedagogy should drive technology.
But no everyone shares to this belief or even has exp-erinced the tranfromative impact technology routed in effective pedgogy can have to help all learners reach their potential.

Every school has its unique identity and areas of excellence—STEM, languages, the arts, pastoral care. EdTech becomes a force multiplier: it enables precise, data-informed interventions that help every learner thrive. Through LGfL’s Digital Transformation Toolkit, schools can assess their digital journeys—from infrastructure and pedagogy to safeguarding and governance—ensuring technology enhances rather than hinders school strengths sites.google.com+7lgfl.net+7schoolsnortheast.org+7curriculumblog.lgfl.net.
Our “IncludED” service champions purposeful technology use to remove barriers for all learners—including those with SEND or EAL needs. Tech tools shouldn’t be a novelty; they must be meaningful and effective. By embedding Universal Design for Learning principles, we ensure every student has equitable access to the curriculum lgfl.net.
LGfL’s PedTech ethos is built on the conviction that no device has an automatic impact on learning—it’s how it’s used. Back in March 2023, I joined Dr Fiona Aubrey‑Smith and others at the BETT Arena to explore how precision teaching, informed by research and supported by technology, literally unleashes learning potential curriculumblog.lgfl.net+1curriculumblog.lgfl.net+1. From choosing tools that reinforce metacognitive thinking to real-time interventions that guide in-the-moment instructional decisions, technology’s power lies in pedagogical precision more than novelty sites.google.com+7curriculumblog.lgfl.net+7curriculumblog.lgfl.net+7.
EdTech can be isolating—but not at LGfL. That’s why we and EdTech UK created the EdTech Hubs network: a living, growing community of educators collaborating through peer‑to‑peer practice, webinars, study tours, and our flagship EdTech Hubs TV channel fenews.co.uk+8lgfl.net+8lgfl.net+8. It’s heartening to hear educators from Pioneer School or Ribblesdale share how tech-enhanced pedagogy has reshaped student outcomes and professional confidence.
Safety, cost, and effectiveness matter. LGfL helps schools save by bundling broadband, licensing, and support, while safeguarding both learners and data curriculumblog.lgfl.netlgfl.net+2lgfl.net+2lgfl.net+2. Our Digital Transformation Toolkit empowers school leaders to audit digital capacities, align strategy to vision, and embed best practices in governance and resourcing lgfl.net+7lgfl.net+7lgfl.net+7.
To me, true EdTech lies where pedagogy, equity, and strategy intersect. It’s where teachers feel empowered—not overwhelmed—by technology. It’s where every learner, regardless of background or ability, accesses a curriculum designed to unlock potential. And it’s where leadership ensures digital transformation is sustainable, secure, and strategic.
If you’re a school leader, educator, or MAT looking to transform practice, our invitation is simple: begin with your pedagogy, involve your community, scaffold your strategy, and build with purpose. At LGfL, we’re here to walk that path with you—from IncludED to PedTech, from Hubs to digital leadership. Because when technology is used intentionally, inclusively, and strategically—it becomes transformative.
Let’s shape a future where every learner thrives—powered by thoughtful EdTech.
