The role of Senior Leadership to manage the required change effectively

Paul Edge (Deputy Headteacher) discusses the importance of sharing the school's vision for technology and how this fits with the schools development plan and how to manage that change process. He states "teachers before students"; the teachers need to feel confident in the use of technology before rolling out to the children.

How do you use tech to involve the wider school community?

Paul Edge (Deputy Headteacher) discusses how the Governing Body use Teams and One Note to communicate and collaborate. 

Parents and carers can be given insight into the young person's learning using technology and platforms.

Paul Edge (Deputy Headteacher) explains that teachers listen to their peers and colleagues potentially more than formal CPD. 

Seeing first hand through school visits and in-school study tours is invaluable.

How can we manage the change required?

Lee Small (Assistant Headteacher and 21st Century Learning and EdTech Development Lead) explains the importance of the planning stage prior to implementation. He suggests the schools infrastructure needs to be stable and support the plans going forward.   

A reminder to all; things will not always go right the very first time you do it and the change needs to support testing and trailling and one size does not fit all.

Paul Edge (Deputy Headteacher) explains that pupils are being equipped with wider, softer skills around using technology and future employers have stated this can have a massive impact on their businesses.

Lee Small (Assistant Headteacher and 21st Century Learning and EdTech Development Lead) explains how video platforms have been used to enhance collaboration during lockdown and share resources.

He sees this as advantageous going forward; supporting non-specialist teachers and supply teachers.

The snow did not stop Ribblesdale School offering a Study Tour event for visitors on the 18th January 2023

NorthWest Tour Highlights - 18th January 2023

Watch a summary of the Northwest EdTech Hub Tour hosted by Ribblesdale Secondary School in Clitheroe. 


Educators from the Northwest region were able to see the school in action during the school day with a tour of lessons covering Literacy, RE, Goegraphy, MFL and History followed by an expert panel discussion with a Q & A for visitors.

The Panel discussion featured a blend of Senior Leaders and Curriulcum Leaders explaining the impact of technology on student engagement and achievement and also the key role of strategic planning to esnure the change was managed to bring all staff along with the developments.
