I'M IN GREEN
I'm IN Green
I’m IN GREEN is a whole group initiative to reduce our carbon footprint, reduce waste, and look after each other and our planet.
I'm IN:
G - Green spaces, green travel
R - Reduce, recycle, reuse
E - Energy efficient
E - Environmental
N - NOW! Every action makes a difference
I’m IN GREEN is committed to:
Significantly reducing our carbon footprint
Reducing our use of plastics
Using cleaner transport
Using sustainable energy
And creating an environment where everyone and everything can thrive! We need your help!
What we need to do less or more with...
Food
A third of the world's food is wasted.
Reduce our food waste: buy, make and eat what you need and save money – there is always one brown banana left!
Reduce meat and dairy
Have a meat and dairy free day – healthier lifestyle
Reduce and use food waste by composting and using recycling bins
Transport
Since 1990, emissions have been halved, but there's still a way to go.
Reduce use of transport:
Go electric if you can
Cycle – use bike initiatives
Get your steps in! Walk wherever possible, get air and exercise - it's good for you!
Avoid multiple deliveries that use fuel, especially when you aren’t in!
Plant trees and wild flowers to encourage wildlife and offset CO2
Energy
Renewable energy has increased from 4 to 30% in Britain. One of the world's largest wind farms is in Hull.
Reduce energy emissions
Avoid fossil fuel
Insulate yourself, your work and home
Switch off power on everything not in use or when it's not needed
Use energy saving technologies
Waste
Reduce, reuse, recycle! (The plastic ban doesn’t contribute to lowering carbon emissions, but reduction in transportation and production does and looks after our water supply!)
Don’t use or buy plastic where there is an alternative
Make eco bricks from non-recyclable plastic
Use recycle bins carefully (don’t contaminate the waste)
Creative swaps – who's got some clothing they have bought and not really worn? Save money – swap!
Make a difference
The greatest threat to our beautiful planet is the belief that someone else will save it.
Play your part in I’m IN GREEN – small scale changes cool the planet and you can change the world
Be considerate – clean up after yourself, don’t litter, recycle carefully, and make informed choices.
Don’t be eco-anxious; turn it into positive energy – there’s lots you can do to make a big difference
