Learning Resource Centres (LRCs)
iLearn
We want you to achieve your personal goals both at college and in your next steps.
The ilearn team has your independent skills development as our main goal. We run your Learning Resource Centres (LRCs), but helping you out in the library is only part of what we do.

We can offer you plenty of support - whether that’s having a 1-2-1 chat with one of our mentors, reading some of our helpful materials, playing an interactive learning game, accessing books and resources, or winning prizes in one of our competitions!
So what are independent skills? Basically, they are the tools you use to not only make yourself better at college work, but to develop other life skills too. Your teachers are the experts in your academic subject and topics, and we can help with all the other stuff that fits around that.
A few examples include:
how to format an essay
how to be awesome at giving presentations
using Google Docs to work with friends on projects
thinking about what dangers lurk on the internet
how to plan your time better so you can study and have fun
how to stay calm before an exam
what to say in an interview
...and loads more!
