Parent Governor letter

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

A welcome back to all students following another period of remote learning. The governors have been pleased to hear about the high levels of engagement and attendance to the remote learning, and that high quality teaching and learning has continued to be delivered through this challenging period. The roll out of the rapid flow testing has gone well, and we thank students and their families in continuing to support the roll out, with the testing now taking place at home.

The governors met remotely for the Governing Body meeting, and welcomed our newly elected parent governor, Tom Castle, to the Governing Body. Thank you to all parents that applied for the parent governor role, and to the parent body for voting for our new parent governor.

The governors reviewed the finance reports, IT report, and continued to receive reassurance from the central executive report on the highly effective work that has been in place to support student progress over the extended lockdown period. The focus now returns to continuing student progress now the students have returned, and addressing and targeting any identified gaps in learning across the subject areas.

The Academy leadership team have continued to prepare for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) authorisation visit, and thanks are raised to all staff for the rigorous work being undertaken in delivering the MYP framework.

We wish you all a healthy, happy and safe spring break.

Best regards

LAB Governing Body

A 5* Achievement at LAB

Following on from an unannounced visit from The RBG Environmental Health team on the 17th March, we would like to pass on our congratulations to our Head Chef, Fabrice Bellier, and his Cucina team for achieving a 5* rating.

This is the highest possible rating that can be awarded. Moreover, the lead inspector was so impressed by the standards of cleanliness seen that, on departure, she commented to Ms Smith that LAB’s was “probably the best kitchen I’ve seen in the 25 years of doing inspections.” This is a great result, and is testament to the high standards of performance that exist, not only in the classroom, but across the academy.
