English
Fiction, or a made up book
Ficitonal books have an H on their back.
The H means that it is fictional, and any additonal letter specifies about the book.
Hce for example means that it is a fictional book which is translated into Swedish from any other language.
Hsg is a book in arabic, and He is a book in English.
Hce for example means that it is a fictional book which is translated into Swedish from any other language.
Hsg is a book in arabic, and He is a book in English.
If it only says Hce, Hsg or He it means it is a book for adults.
Books for children, teenagers and young adults
Books for children, teenagers and young adults
If the books are for children, teenagers and young adults, and not in Swedish, there are different markings to look for.
Here are a few examples:
uHe is a book for teenagers or young adults, in English, and uHsg is a book for teenagers or young adults, in arabic.
ugHe is a book for ages 9 - 12, in English, and ugHsg is a book for ages 9 - 12, in arabic.
ufHe is a book for ages up to 9, in English, and ufHsg is a book for ages 9 - 12, in arabic.
If the books are in Swedish:
Books for teenagers, in Swedish, are marked with uHc/uHce.
Books for ages 9 - 12, in Swedish, are marked with Hcg.
Books for ages up to 9, in Swedish, are marked with Hcf.
Non fiction
Does it say any other letter than H the book is probably a non fictional book. The different letters means different things.
K for example is history, D is philosphy and psychology and V is medicine.
An example is:
Vdp
V says it is Medicine
dp say it is pharmacology, and more specific, pharmacies.
A small u before the K or the Vnd, or any other letter, means it is a non fictional book for children.
If it is a non fictional book in another language than Swedish or English, for example in Arabic, the marking will be Vdp=sg, where the =sg is for arabic.
In the library there are easy readers in both English, Swedish, and in some other langugages.
In Swedish these are marked with colors, where green (level 1) are the easiest, orange (level 2) is a bit harder and blue (level 3) the hardest.
You do not need to remember all this! If you have any questions, feel free to ask any of the librarians for help!
