Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi ʻAlihilani Alumni Center
It is with deep kaumaha that we share the passing of two beloved members of our Kamehameha Schools Hawai'i community: Aunty Pi'ilani Ka'awaloa and Dr. Kawika Rose.
Kumu Pi'ilani faithfully served our haumana and school community until her retirement in July 2025. She leaves behind a legacy grounded in aloha, 'ike, and a deep commitment to nurturing the next generation. As a respected cultural practitioner and kumu, she carried and shared her 'ike in meaningful ways that continue to guide our lahui.
Dr. Rose was a deeply valued member of our kula. His genuine care for each haumana, his spirit of aloha, and his unwavering commitment to education left a lasting impact on our entire community. The outpouring of aloha following his passing reflects the many lives he touched.
On behalf of the 'ohana of Dr. Rose, we humbly share an opportunity for alumni to join us in Oli on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Lunalilo Hale at 10:15 AM.
As we come together in remembrance, may we continue to uplift one another and carry forward the aloha, 'ike, and kuleana that both Dr. Rose and Kumu Pi'ilani shared so generously with our community.
Aloha e Nā Pua a Pauahi,
No matter where your journey takes you after high school, Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi will always be your home - and we are here to walk with you every step of the way. As your Higher Education Transition Specialists, our role is to support your transition into life after KSH, whether you are navigating college, career, or a different path entirely.
Our team is made up of two groups who bring different experiences and perspectives to help meet you where you are:
Malcolm Helm and Zoe Leonard '15 work closely with alumni in their first two years after high school. They provide guidance on adjusting to life as a young adult, accessing campus resources, managing time and wellness, and exploring your personal goals as you settle into this next chapter.
Makana Campbell '17 and Makana Craig '07 support alumni who are three or more years beyond high school. Their focus includes career development, networking, professional growth, and continued educational planning, helping you take your next steps with greater confidence, clarity, and purpose.
While our specialties may vary, our commitment remains the same; we support all alumni, no matter your timeline, location, or path. We’re here to listen, guide, and celebrate your growth because we believe in your purpose, potential, and ability to create a meaningful future. Whether you’re just beginning your journey or well along your path, you are never alone. Our team is here to help you navigate challenges, discover new opportunities, and stay connected to your Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi ʻohana. I Mua Kamehameha!
