Yearbook Manaʻo
"Everyday, we see the beauty of [mohala i ka wai ka maka o ka pua] on our campus. The pua kenikeni in bloom, the pua lehua, red and yellow, adorning the trees. The abundant supply of water in our ahupuaʻa makes this all possible. Poetically, in our Hawaiian language, "pua" is synonymous with children. And just as flowers thrive when there is water, our children thrive when they have the support they need to grow. When we provide the learning opportunities and positive guidance that our pua or children deserve, they too will thrive, will unfold and blossom into the good and industrious men and women our founder envisioned." - Mrs. Naeʻole-Wong, Elementary Principal
"An 'education' can only be as strong as its foundation based on Christian and Hawaiian values. At Kula Waena (middle school), we are focusing on the values of accountability, being responsible for one's actions; and integrity, doing what is right no matter who is watching. As these values become part of the fabric of each student, we solidify the strength of the foundation that will carry our haumāna through high school and beyond. As we build the core of each child, we continuously remind them that the way you mahalo Pauahi's gift of a KS education is to do your best daily. We are proud of our haumāna and enjoy the opportunity to share their journey through Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi." - Mr. Colson, Middle School Principal
"Our school is a garden, made up of a variety of flowers. Each flower unfolds differently and is unique. Our haumāna, like flowers, grow and develop into special and unique individuals. Each haumāna unfolds with its own beauty and spirit that Ke Akua has blessed them with. Water is a life-giving source. From it, all things are nourished and sustained. Kamehameha is symbolic of the concept of wai as it is the source that provides nourishment and sustenance for our haumāna to thrive and grow. Our beloved Ke Aliʻi Bernice Pauahi understood this manaʻo and devoted her entire life and resources so that generations of Hawaiian children would thrive and fulfill their destiny through the life-giving source of education." Mrs. Aldrich, High School Principal
"This year's theme describes how flowers flourish and grow where there is an abundance of water, much in the way that people thrive and grow in the best of conditions. Here at Kamehameha Schools Hawaiʻi, it is always our mission to provide an environment that allows our students to flourish and grow. Our pua are the students who attend our school daily, and our wai is the offerings from our faculty and staff. They unselfishly give all of their knowledge to enrich the lives of all students and help them grow to hopefully move on and help others flourish as well." - Mr. Aganus, High School Vice Principal
