Yearbook Manaʻo from Poʻokumu Lehua
Ua lehulehu a manomano ka ʻikena a ka Hawaiʻi. Great and numerous is the knowledge of the Hawaiians! How ironic that along with the theme of this year's yearbook, we also celebrate 125 years of Ke Aliʻi Pauahi's legacy with the theme of "Hoʻōla Lāhui, Hoʻoulu Pae ʻĀina - Vibrant People, Thriving Lands." A hōʻailona (sign) of true seamless connection of beliefs and values of our school focusing on carrying forth the mission of our Aliʻi of enhancing the capability and well-being of our native Hawaiians through education. As this school year was a year of definite change, let's continue to reflect on the movement that our Kamehameha High School Hawaiʻi Campus has made and the implications it has on your future. Be reflective of your moʻokūʻauhau (genealogy), as it is the foundation upon which you stand as constant reminders of whom you are and where you come from. It is the hope that your actions will bring continuous pride. Be reflective on the duty that you have, as beneficiaries of this legacy, to ensure an ongoing continuum of educational excellence for years to come. Be reflective of your individual successes and challenges, as they will help to guide you on your next steps on the pathway you choose. Be reflective of what you have learned and the application of this knowledge in your lives. Be reflective of the piling (relationships) that you have established here, as they will provide you with ongoing support when you need it the most. Be reflective of the duty to mālama our ʻāina as it will sustain our livelihood for generations to come. He aliʻi ka ʻāina, he kauā ke kanaka. The land is chief; man is its servant.
To our senior class of 2013 - Ka ʻŌnohi Lama - I congratulate you on all your accomplishments as you prepare yourselves for the next level in your future. You move forward prepared and knowledgeable. You move forward with aloha and pono. You move forward with anticipation of the great things ahead of you. Na ke Akea e alakaʻi a kiaʻi iā ʻoukou a pau loa. Mau ka ʻike no ka pono o kākou a pau loa! I mua e Kamehameha! E Ola e Kamehameha! As we all continue to reflect...Aloha a Mahalo!
