In 1996, the body of Stacy Stites was found in some bushes off a dirt road in Bastrop, TX. Police began to look at Rodney Reed as a suspect for her murder after he was pointed out of a police lineup as the perpetrator of a similar crime months later. DNA found on the body linked Reed to the murder. Reed was convicted of her murder and sentenced to death. He has continued to appeal the verdict and recently was given a stay of execution.
