On June 20, 2011, Andrea Yates, a mother suffering from postpartum psychosis, drowned her five children in a bathtub. Yates called the police and confessed to her crimes. She was subsequently arrested and charged; and on March 15, 2002, she was convicted of the capital murders of all five kids and sentenced to life in prison. In 2005, an appeal overturned her conviction and she was given a new trial. On July 26, 2006, Yates was found not guilty by reason of insanity and placed in a psychiatric hospital where she remains to this day.
