A long-time victim of severe child abuse, Gabriel Fernandez was beat to death by his mother and her boyfriend because he didn't clean up his toys in 2013. More than 60 reports had been filed with DCFS throughout Gabriel's short life and his family had been investigated eight times. Four social workers were accused of failing to protect Gabriel and charged with both child abuse and falsifying public records. A judge later dismissed these charges.
