Challenge:
BUILDING AND PROGRAMMING
BUILDING AND PROGRAMMING
To create a device which will follow a line when unobstructed.
ALL students will: Create a device which will somewhat follow a line.
MOST students will: Create a device which will follow a line successfully
SOME students may: Create a device which will decide to follow a line if it is not obstructed.
Your teacher will show you the line you will be following and the obstructions which will be in place.
a) Build your Device
Build a basic rover, VERY similar to the Maze II robot.
Make sure the wheels are under the brain brick
Use a marble for stabilization
Insert a color sensor at the front of the device, VERY close to the floor.
Insert a gyro sensor onto the robot
Make sure the device is robust
b) Put 3 photos of your device on your site
Make sure each photo is from different angles
Make sure the images are a suitable size
Your line must be at least 2 meters long, and change directions multiple times.
a) Program the device
Make sure the programming is efficient
The device must be programmed to follow the line using the light intensity
The device must start facing AWAY from the line. You need to program the device to sense when it has spun 180 degrees (using the gyro), and then start following the line.
Make sure your MS Rover Robotics Online Portfolio is clearly labelled and every image is a suitable size.
