How to build a device which will constantly monitor for new trash. Once trash is detected, it drives to it, and collects it.
ALL students will: Program a device which can move around the coral reef area
MOST students will: Program a device which can randomly move around the coral reef area
SOME students may: Program a device which constantly detects for new trash, once detected, it drives to it and picks it up.
Open Safari (if you are a Mac user), or Microsoft Edge (if you are a Windows user)
Go to https://vr.vex.com
Select the 'Coral Reef Cleanup' playground.
Watch the video below:
Approaching: Build a program which allows the robot to move around the coral reef area, perhaps damaging the coral
Developing: Build a program which allows the robot to move around the coral reef area, without damaging the coral
Proficient: Same as above, using loops.
Exemplary: Build a device which will continually scan for a piece of trash. When it see's a piece of trash, it drives to its location, stops, and then scans for the next piece of trash.
A few hints for students aiming for exemplary:
This is allows the program to do something, if the distance sensor sees an object
This can be used as a variable to represent the distance an object is from the sensor
This is what the device should do if it cannot see an object
On your portfolio:

Make sure you show your code in your video, or provide a screenshot
