Challenge: Complex Systems
PLANNING
PLANNING
To research existing complex systems and to plan your own one
ALL students will: Identify an existing complex system and plan their own to a basic standard
MOST students will: Explain the purpose of an existing complex system and plan their own using a flowchart and a sketch
SOME students may: Explain the purpose and benefits of an existing complex system and plan their own using a detailed flowchart and annotated sketch
Complex System: A system which uses multiple motors and multiple sensors to achieve one goal.
As the world gets more technologically advanced, the use of sensors and motors are increasingly being used to help solve problems.
A) Can you give an example of where a complex system is used in the real world? Explain the industry and specific use (2 points)
B) Provide a photo/video of an existing device (1 point)
C) Discuss at least two benefits of using this complex system (2 points)
D) Identify and explain where two sensors and two motors are used in this system (2 points)
Your device will be required to have the following:
Remember to put the following on your MS Rover Robotics Online Portfolio
A) Sketch (2 points)
In your robotics planning pad, create an annotated sketch of the device you wish to build.
Remember to annotate the following:
B) Flowchart (2 points)
Create a flowchart displaying your devices functionality
Remember to include the following:
C) Real world purpose (2 points)
