Our S4 Support Map outlines a comprehensive programme of activities designed to help pupils build confidence, explore career opportunities, and make informed decisions about their future pathways. Through a range of workshops, employer engagement events, careers advice sessions, and structured guidance support, pupils will develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to plan their next steps. This coordinated approach ensures every learner is supported in achieving their goals and preparing for further education, training, or employment.
Our S5 & S6 Support Map provides a clear pathway of guidance, events, and key milestones throughout the academic year. From university visits and UCAS support to personal statement workshops, career planning, and pathway meetings, pupils will receive structured support at every stage to help them make informed decisions about their future education, training, or employment opportunities. Together, we are committed to helping every young person achieve their aspirations and successfully plan their next steps beyond school.
RSHP education is a significant part of the health and wellbeing curriculum that is delivered from early level to senior phase within Curriculum for Excellence. It focuses on equipping learners with the knowledge, skills and values to make informed and positive choices about forming relationships. Learners develop an understanding of how to maintain positive relationships with a variety of people and are aware of how thoughts, feelings, attitudes, values and beliefs can influence decisions about relationships and sexual health. They also develop an understanding of the complex role and responsibilities of being a parent or carer.
When it comes to relationships young people learn about:
• Loving relationships and being attracted to others
• Making relationships work
• Respect for others and the importance of being kind – in our face-to-face relationships and online.
When it comes to being safe young people learn about:
• Social media and being safe and smart online
• What we mean by consent
• Abuse in relationships – considering grooming, sexual exploitation, partner control, coercion and violence
• Pornography – what it is and what harm it does
• Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
• Who they can go to for help and support, including Sexual Health Services
When it comes to growing up and learning about their body young people learn about:
• Puberty and how the bodies and emotions of both girls and boys change as they grow – this includes menstruation (periods) and masturbation.
When it comes to emotional wellbeing young people learn about:
• Feeling emotional • Looking after themselves and others
• Body image and the pressures on young people.
When it comes to gender young people learn about:
• Gender stereotypes
• Equality
• That they can be any kind of boy or girl they want to be
• Feminism
