Overview

We are incredibly proud of the wide ranging positive destinations our pupils achieve on leaving KHS. We work very hard to promote a variety of possibilities from the moment pupils walk through the door in S1. Our S4-6 curriculum in the senior phase is filled with choice, creativity and innovation. We have carefully mapped out pathways for pupils to ensure that when they leave KHS, their 'suitcase' is filled with the qualifications they need to progress onto what they want to do. The thinking

Whilst many schools in Scotland have adapted their curriculum models to enable pupils in S3 to start their senior course choices, at KHS we have made the careful decision to continue our '3-3' model whereby pupils follow our Broad General Education (BGE) in years 1, 2 & 3 before starting their senior course choices in S4. Our attainment data in the senior phase has been very strong in recent years, which has been the main consideration for continuing with our current model. It allows us to offer fantastic courses including traditional qualifications in a wide variety of subjects such as: - National 1 through to National 5; Highers; Advanced Highers. We have been delivering a variety of different Scottish Qualifications for many years, which is also a strong indication of why our attainment data is so strong in the senior phase. These courses allow for continuation and success in specific subjects for some pupils where the more traditional qualifications do not necessarily allow. National Progression Awards (NPAs), National Certificate's (NC), Skills for Work (SfW) courses, Scottish Baccalaureate, Foundation Apprenticeships (Click here for more information), are some of the additional courses we offer.
