Baker-Butler where... Together we learn, Together we belong.
March 12, 2026
This is a weekly publication for Baker-Butler families. Each week's edition is published on the Home page. Previous editions are linked and titled by date.
Our own Lisa Harman was award the Virginia Association of School Librarians award for the Shenandoah Region. This award recognizes outstanding Virginia school librarians. Lisa embodies the many roles of a school librarian. She is an instructional partner, an information specialist, and a leader in the profession.
Winners from each of VAASL's seven regions are the candidates for the state School Librarian of the Year.
Sponsored by Better Living Building Supply and Cabinetry
The Golden Apple awards committee received nominations from people from all over our community, including students, parents, educators, and community members. Among the nominations received for Baler-Butler, the committee selected Crystal Soucy as the 2026 recipient for our school.
The committee looks for teachers who demonstrate notable excellence in their classrooms through the use of innovative instructional strategies and techniques as well as community outreach. Winners represent less than two percent of all teachers in public and private schools both in Charlottesville and Albemarle County, making the award a true honor.
In addition to the award, Ms. Soucy will also receive a $500 grant from the program sponsor, Better Living Building Supply & Cabinetry.
The Yearbook Committee is starting to work on this year's book and we would love pictures from this school year! We're looking for photos from Family Nights, musical performances, snow days, first day of school, etc. You can upload directly using the link below. There are pre-selected categories and it's helpful if you include tags with your photos, like teacher name and grade.
