Winter has come early this year! With a 2-two hour delay on Tuesday and the potential for snow overnight, we thought it'd be helpful to review the what happens when we have a delayed opening.
Delayed Opening
School starts on or two hours later than usual. Arrival begins at 8:40 or 9:40 and the school day starts at 8:55 or 9:55.
Buses run one or two hours later than the regular pick-up time.
Hot breakfast is not served. Cereal is available.
School lunch is served at the regular time.

Families and other community members can learn the division’s school schedule status during inclement weather in several ways:
School Schedule Hotline - Call 434-296-5886 to listen to a prerecorded message about school operations for the day. This recording is updated by 5:30 a.m. Para español, llame al 434-975-9332
Electronic Alert: Phone, Email and/or Text - Parents and guardians are provided an opportunity at the start of each school year to enroll in the Electronic School Notification System to receive notifications from the school division by phone (landline or cellular), email and/or text. Parents and guardians may also enroll at any time or change their preferences by contacting the school.
ACPS Website - The division will activate our web alert system to help communicate school schedule changes. The system uses pop-up messages to alert website visitors to important information.
Social Media - “Like” us on Facebook or “Follow” us on X.
Local Media Outlets - School schedule changes are broadcast on several local radio and television stations, as well as local media websites.
Communities in Schools (CIS) will continue supporting families during the winter holiday season with December Mobile Markets at the same locations as Thanksgiving: the Lambs Lane Campus, Red Hill Elementary School, and Woodbrook Elementary School.
Participating families will receive a box of fresh produce, non-perishable food items, and winter clothing items, including coats, hats, and gloves.

Location: Boys & Girls Club parking lot (195 Lambs Lane)

Winter Spirit Week ~ December 15th-18th. Everyone is invited to participate!
Broadway Bears Presents Disney Frozen Kids: Get ready to embark on a magical winter adventure! The Broadway Bears have been working hard these past few months and now it’s showtime! Come enjoy their production of Disney’s Frozen Kids on Thursday, Dec 11th, at 6:30pm in the gym. It’s FREE and fun for the whole family - perfect for kicking off the winter season! Come out and support our amazing young performers. PTO will also be sponsoring a bake sale at the show - all proceeds raised will go towards the music program at Baker-Butler.
