MONTH 21-23, 2025
Mr. Yap
Mrs. Austin
The new year has brought a lot of activity in chorus! On Tuesdays, we have started having "sectional rehearsals." In these rehearsals, students are divided into two groups and are led through music rehearsal by their section leader. Section leaders were elected by their peers as students who were knowledgeable of the music, could handle being in a leadership role, and would contribute to a positive learning culture. The section leaders are Gio Colon Ocasio, Sofi Rodriguez, Elizabeth Anthony, Judyann Bailey (7th grade); Kailey Alexander, Avery Davis, Ka'leya Freeman, Konami Williams (6th grade); and Layla-Alice Coffer, Bailey Walton, Charli Burnham, and Layla Faumuina (8th grade).

This quarter kicked off with all grade levels exploring botany, the scientific study of plants. We always start the quarter in botany so that all Ag. Tech students can select up to 3 plants to grow for the remainder of the quarter. During this unit, students learned about seeds, germination, photosynthesis, flower anatomy, and fruit anatomy, including a fruit dissection lab.
The Ag. Tech program will also be showcasing its small business, Nonna's Pesto, at this quarter's Feb 6th Food Fest. Where we will have students preparing homemade bread/pasta to sample our pesto and place any pre-orders for pick up at the KCC Farmers Market, where we will be competing in the Hawaii Agricultural Foundation's YEP Marketplace!
Mrs. Wada - Goode
Students in 6th grade began the quarter studying color and are in the process of completing their mandala color wheels. 7th graders are having fun making Valentines boxes, using a variety of crafts supplies. 8th graders are studying motion and texture in the creation of koi fish watercolor paintings.
Mr. Lavine
Students in Math Learning Lab are continuing to work hard and grow their math skills each and every day. Our focus has been on foundational concepts like fraction and decimal operations, and how those skills are used in the real world. Let's finish the Quarter strong, and keep earning Brain Bucks to spend in the Spartan Store!
Who thinks they can show the most growth this semester?
Mr. Falzarano
