In the third quarter so far, the students have been preparing to perform at both a Food Truck Festival and for the 5th Grade Orientation. Both performances were very exciting and the students are getting more and more comfortable performing in front of an audience. Their stage presence has greatly improved since their first performance! Students say that they are less nervous than they used to be. We will continue to work on new music and preparing now for the upcoming Food Truck Festival, the Leilehua Complex Music Festival, our WMS Chorus Spring Concert and a guest appearance at the WMS Band's Spring Concert.

February was an action-packed month for Ag. Tech and Agriculture Club students! On February 6th, we had our Nonna's Pesto showcase at the WMS Food Fest. Nonna’s Pesto is a Wheeler Middle School Ag. Tech initiative where students have been working to go from seed to shelf. Growing basil plants for harvest, which we then use for our rendition of Ms. Pilato’s Nonna’s reimagined pesto recipe, where we take local ingredients to produce a pesto with a traditional Italian flavor. We are partnering with two farms on Maui: Hamakua for macadamia nuts and Kuleana Farms for sunflower oil. We are also using Hawaiian salt, and of course, our Wheeler Middle School-grown basil.
If you would like to support our Value-added small business, there will be an online marketplace that opens on March 1st, where you can pre-order. One jar is $10, and pre-ordering will guarantee you a jar for pick-up on April 10th, at the Food Fest, or April 11th at the Kapiolani Community College Farmers Market from 7 am - 12 pm.

This month Wheeler artsists brought their families to enjoy our Paint Paina event. We created paintings inspired by Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. Everyone enjoyed being creative and the paintings turned out amazing!!!

In the Math Learning Lab, we've been working hard to get our work done, and we're getting rewarded for it! Thanks to some generous donations, we have revamped our inventory of math games... who would've thought you could have fun while learning math?!
