Mr. Lavine
Students in Math Learning Lab are continuing to work hard and grow their math skills each and every day. Our focus has been on foundational concepts like fraction and decimal operations, and how those skills are used in the real world. Let's finish the Quarter strong, and keep earning Brain Bucks to spend in the Spartan Store!
Who thinks they can show the most growth this semester?
Mrs. Maldonado
Our Learning Lab crew has been working hard and making great progress! Each day we dive into journaling to build writing skills, read and annotate articles to sharpen comprehension, and push ourselves to keep learning and growing. It’s exciting to see how much everyone has improved! It’s hard to believe the quarter is already flying by! We’re proud of the effort students are putting in each day.
Mr. Matsushita
The yearbook students are proactively participating within the afterschool activities. They reached out to students to interview them and ask how their experiences were within Food fest and Movie on the Lawn. Hopefully this will help theirselves and their peers to connect with the community! Fun pictures were taken all thanks to the students and their hard work.
Mr. Falzarano
Many interesting activities are going on in Interactive Science. Seventh graders are covering aspects of Geology by doing an acid on Sedimentary rocks to identify them. Sixth graders are using convection to layer different temperatures of water. Eighth graders are analyzing light samples using a spectrometer.
Mr. Ikehara / Mr. Matsushita
-It's always a fun/emotional to see our former band members performing in high school. As soon as they saw me they starting telling me all of their high school drama....I don't know why but I miss all of that.
-We sold deep fried oreos at Movie on the Lawn.
-After our 7th grade concert band period, many like to stay for a bit during their recess to witness our 6th graders learn what they did a year ago.
-Our AC in the band room is going to be out until January. With no windows, it becomes very musty especially when we cram 80+ sweaty 8th graders after lunch. We set up a bunch of fans to at least get some air moving.
-Our Concert Band (2nd and 3rd Year players) started after school rehearsals. All of these chairs are only for 3 instrument sections.
Mr. Morimoto
This month in Leadership 6th grade students completed units on goal-setting and self awareness, and will end the quarter with a class presentation.
7th graders have finished their presentation on a world leader and will embark upon an action project chosen by the class!
8th graders are busy with Student Council which represents the entire student body. From preparing agendas and holding meetings with homeroom representatives, they are also attending after school meetings with faculty and staff (FOL, SCC, PTSO), recycling, fundraising at Food Fest and Movie on the Lawn, and hosting the first birthday bash of the school year!
