MONTH 21-23, 2025
Mrs. Maldonado
I can’t believe we are already at the end of the quarter! Learning Lab students worked incredibly hard, and we were excited to see growth across all ELA diagnostic scores. We were also super lucky to end the quarter with a very special holiday event. Students were able to pick out a book for themselves and a book to give as a gift, complete with gift wrapping. After their book shopping, they enjoyed hot cocoa and Rice Krispy treats—all at no cost. I hope everyone has a wonderful and well-deserved break!
Mr. Matsushita
Our class has been very dedicated to making our yearbook look the best it can. Currently yearbook class is working on pictures for 6th-7th grade homeroom visits and sport teams page. After we finish the 6th-7th grade homerooms we are going to do 8th grade visits next. We hope everyone has a good winter break! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Mr. Falzarano
Where has the quarter gone? Seventh grade did an outstanding job with their hydroponics project! Sixth grade is finishing up their Solar Cooker Design Challenge. Can there model heat up to 150 degrees fahrenheit in 10 minutes? Eighth graders are busy dissecting and examining the major structures of the sheep heart. Here they are clearing the tissues around the valves before exploring the 4 chambers. Season's Greetings and Happy New Year!
Our Beginning Band and Concert Band has their Winter Concert! Both bands did an outstanding job!
We were also honored to have Dr. Peter Boonshaft from Hofstra University come and work with our students. He is a world renowned clinician and author of many books including our Sound Innovations book.

This month...
A 6th grade class decorated the auditorum for the upcoming assembly, and another raised money for Make-A-Wish Hawaii by selling candy canes and delivering it with a song and dance!
7th graders are busy rehearsing for the 7th grade Xmas Costume Contest, and the other class will host Xmas Jeopardy!
8th graders have been busy hosting meetings, logging points, and will distribute hot chocolate to the winners of the Door-Decorating Contest.
It's been a busy month, and it's not over until the very end!
Mr. Otaka
We finished out our quarter by having 6th graders learn the fundamentals of coding in the Swift language; 7th graders programming the Dash and Cue robots to accomplish basic movement challenge (along with a simple drive and shoot challenge); and 8th graders attempting to create a 3D model of a realistic donut using Blender. After that, students of all grade levels had an opportunity to play interactive fiction games made with the Twinery.org platform, and then got to create and play each others' stories.
I hope everyone has a wonderful and restful Winter Break!
