Mr Watanabe.
6th Grade: Finishing up their Dream House Projects. Using their rulers students are building scale model homes of their own design.
7th Grade: Students are preparing to launch their rockets to test their own wing design and placement. Hoping for good weather!
8th Grade: Students are finishing up their Paper towel holders and are curently working on their custom clock designs.
Home Economic Students completed their sewing projects and moved onto their cooking labs! Students measured ingredients on one day and the next day produced their delicious garlic cheddar biscuits and crazy chocolate cupcakes (no dairy or eggs!).
Teen Health students learned how much sugar are found in drinks by calculating the amount per can/bottle and weighing out the amount of sugar to visually see how much sugar they are drinking. They are now working on creating their Counter Advertisement Projects where they point out the dangers of alcohol, cigarettes and vapes.

On September 5, the chorus had their very first performance of the year at the Wheeler Middle School Food Truck Festival. We had almost 100 students who were able to attend and participate. We sang three songs "Hawai'i Ponoi," "Land of the Silver Birch/My Paddle," and "Bring Me Little Water, Silvy." It was very hot! But the students performed their best and we had a very appreciative audience.

In September, our Ag. Tech students prepared for the end of the quarter with focused, hands-on learning. Sixth graders explored composting, farm simulation coding, and designing apocalypse farms. Seventh graders worked on building sustainable farms to survive in resource-scarce conditions. Eighth graders developed their own small agribusinesses, creating branding and income statements to launch their ventures.

6th Graders in Art class have been studying Hawaiian flowers and are currently finishing up their crayon resist water color paintings. 7th Graders are learning how to make friendship bracelets. 8th Graders recently completed their Picasso-inspired self portraits made with oil and chalk pastel.
Mr. Otaka
We've had a busy second half of the first quarter! 6th graders worked on progamming Ozobot Evo robots to do simple movement challenges, and then started learning the basics of the Swift Programming language. 7th graders learned to make 3d designs using Sketchup, a platform intended to create models for architecture, and then started to use the Dash and Cue robots to complete a variety of challenges. 8th graders learned how to program in Swift, and then proceeded to tackle the daunting task of making a donut in Blender, a 3d design platform intended primarily for 3d animation. All grade levels had an opportunity to program a Microbit to play a rock-paper-scissors game, and to capture data on campus. We then took the data and placed it on a map using ArcGIS software. Great job!!!
