Sequencing is putting pictures or events in the correct chronological order.
In the activity below, you will see a set of four pictures that are out of order (sequence). The goal is to put the pictures in the correct order (sequence). There will be a total of 5 different picture scenes: Selling Lemonade, Feeding the Dog, Roasting Hot Dogs, Getting a New Fish, and Wrapping a Birthday Present.
Talk with your child about each picture. Explain how the pictures must go in the correct order (sequence) so the story will make sense. Say it's your child's job to put the pictures in the right order so you can tell a story using the pictures.
Ask your child what happened first and have your child drag that picture into the first box. If your child needs more help, describe the first picture to your child and ask your child to find the one you're talking about and drag it into the first box.
Ask your child what happened next and have your child drag that picture into the second box. If your child needs more help, describe the second picture to your child and ask your child to find the one you're talking about and drag it into the second box.
Ask your child what happened then and have your child drag that picture into the third box. If your child needs more help, describe the third picture to your child and ask your child to find the one you're talking about and drag it into the third box.
Ask your child what happened last and have your child drag that picture into the fourth box. If your child needs more help, describe the fourth picture to your child and ask your child to find the one you're talking about and drag it into the fourth box.
Click on the blue SUBMIT box to check your answers. If they are all correct, it will move you to the next set of pictures.
Sequence Activities #2-6:
The following activities would provide multiple print, cut and sort sequencing activities. If the child has difficulty putting them in order, tell them a story to go with the cards and then have them sequence them. They could also be given a choice for what will happen first, next, then, and last, etc. Keep in mind that the lower number of pictures, the easier this activity will be. The higher number of pictures, the more challenging. Let your SLP know which ones you tried out!
Listen to the story Owl Moon by clicking on the link below. When you are done listening, sequence the events in the correct order as they happened in the story. Remember to re-listen to the story if you are not sure of the order of events.
