Counting Syllables

Syllable Scavenger Hunt You and your child each find 5 small items from around the house and bring them to the table. You start first. Choose to show one of your items. Say the name of your item and clap out the number of syllables it contains. Score one point for each syllable. For example, if you found a spoon, show the spoon, say spoon, and clap out the number of syllables it contains. Since spoon only has one syllable, you would get one point. Now it's your child's turn. Whoever gets the most points wins the game. HINT: Try to find items that have lots of syllables.
