Expressive language (speaking) is the way children use their words and sentences to communicate with others. Some children who are non-verbal use gestures, signs, or pictures to communicate with others. Some expressive language skills include comparing/contrasting, describing, naming categories, naming vocabulary, sequencing, formulating sentences, using correct grammar, and using social language.
