Assessment, Grading & Reporting

Our Key Commitments to You:

Clear Goals: Every major assignment will clearly state the learning standards being assessed and include a clear rubric so students know what they are working toward.

Fair & Supportive: We provide a variety of ways for students to show what they know. We separate the grade for what they learned from how they approached the learning (e.g., effort, collaboration).

Actionable Feedback: We give specific feedback on what students can do, while they are still working on it, and the next steps for improvement. Feedback is given within one school week.

Second Chances to Learn: We offer opportunities to re-do major assessments if the work is not meeting expectations. There are requirements and limitations to be able to re-do tests and assignments.  

Transparent Communication: Major assignments are posted at least one week in advance. Grades are updated regularly in PowerSchool. We will contact you if your child is not making adequate progress towards the learning standards.

What We Expect from Students:

Your role is to be an active partner in your learning.

• Be Engaged: 

  • Participate fully in all assessment stages—preparation, demonstration, and reflection.

• Be Responsible:

  • Submit work by the due date, even if it's incomplete.

  • Request an extension before the due date if needed.

  • Ask your teacher if you don’t understand the task.

• Be Honest:

  • Do NOT use AI to complete your work unless your teacher explicitly permits it.

  • Always cite your sources.

  • Check your work against our academic integrity guidelines.

  • Ensure the work you submit is your work.

• Be Reflective:

  • Use the rubric to assess your own work before submitting.

  • Use teacher feedback to set goals and improve on the next assignment.
