The Clubs program is a special part of the JIS Middle School Co-Curricular program that provides opportunities for students to explore interests and passions, while making new friends and forming bonds with different members of the community. We have a wide variety of both service and exploratory clubs on offer run by our wonderful faculty. Some clubs are long-standing MS institutions and are responsible for many of our great traditions and community connections; other special interest clubs adjust each semester to allow for new challenges and explorations. The result is a fun, diverse, highly-active club scene with opportunities for everyone. Whatever students are passionate about, there’s likely a club to serve it. And if not? The door is always open to student proposals for the next club that will become an MS institution!
Please visit our Clubs and Activities page to learn more about our club offerings and when the occur.
MS Athletics seasons are six weeks long and meet to practice twice a week. All sports will have season ending events, such as the Weber Classic Track and Field Meet and Jakarta Area Athletic League tournaments, as well as JIS invitationals. Sporting seasons may include: track & field, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, badminton and touch rugby.
Throughout the school year students may have the opportunity to participate in a variety of school trips. Some of these trips, such as AMIS honor music, are merit-based, while others, such as service trips, are interest-based. Information about these trips will be communicated during the school year, well in advance of the trip. These trips offer students amazing experiential learning opportunities. Being away from the comfort of home and family, and experiencing new places, people, and activities, helps students achieve many personal development milestones, and gain important skills of independence which will prepare them for university and life beyond school walls. Every student in the MS will attend the annual Extended Study Program (ESP) trip in March/April, which brings the learning happening in our classrooms to life. Each grade will various locations in Indonesia during this week-long trip, and it is a highlight of the school year. You can learn more about this trip by visiting the ESP website.
To ensure the sustainability of trips such as these, students and parents must adhere to general expectations surrounding school work and attendance before, after and during trips. These expectations will be communicated to parents and students in advance of each trip.
After-school bus transportation is available at no cost for all MS students who attend clubs and sport. However, the late bus does not always take students directly to their home. Students may be dropped in a location near their home. Late buses depart the Cilandak campus according to the School Hours table on page 8. For more information regarding transportation, please contact the Transportation Office.
