The JIS Volcano Leaders program is a grade 8 student leadership opportunity that plays a vital role in our MS community. The Volcano Leaders are essential in creating and maintaining the positive, fun, supportive environment that is the heart of our school. They do this, by fostering communication between members of the school community- staff, students and administration, as well as promoting spirit and good citizenship throughout the MS.
The students who are selected as members of the Volcano Leaders team will have the opportunity to do a variety of community service activities, help organize and plan school events such as socials, volcano sports and spirit days, and assist with running and planning all MADNESS days.
The Volcano Leaders program is a great opportunity for students to practice leadership through responsibility, and develop their public speaking skills. Students who would like to be considered for the program in the 8th grade year, go through an application process including written personal statements and interviews.
