The JIS 1:1 program provides all students in Grades 6-12 with a JIS-issued 13" MacBook Air, required for use at school and at home. (See specs here.)
Students should have already received their laptop during the New Family Tech Orientation with IT Support and Miss Michelle. They should have also completed the following:
Received their laptop and charger.

After receiving their laptop, students are asked to begin setting up their Macbook and to explore some of the core tech tools that we use in MS: Google Calendar, Google Classroom, Gmail, and JISNet's MS Naga News Feed. Tutorials for new students can be found in the MS Tech Hub.
In addition to the video tutorials, tech sessions during the school year will also be available to further support new students with their device setup and learning of the core tech tools.

For the regular school day JIS middle schoolers do not have a uniform*, although we do have dress expectations. Your clothes must be functional and respectful.
Choose clothing that...
is respectful of our learning multicultural environment and our multicultural community.
is functional: covers your body while you reach, run, bend, jump, and throw.
covers the torso, shoulders and all undergarments.
does not display inappropriate language, slogans or images.
Choose footwear that...
protects your feet and enables you to move safely for the activity/classes you are participating in. (Examples: conducting science labs, participating in PE, running, or playing soccer on the playground.)
* Students are required to wear a uniform for PE classes (see below) and will be required to wear a uniform when representing JIS in various sporting, academic or creative events.
Details about uniform and where to purchase the PE kit, can be found here.
