Student should follow their schedules according to their Google Calendars.
Attendance is mandatory and will be taken at the start of each class. Students who do not arrive on time will be counted as tardy. Patterns of student absences and tardiness will result in an email to parents and the Vice Principal.
The student’s VIDEOS must be TURNED ON for all live Zoom sessions.
The student’s display name should display correct name. For example: Aimee Cleary
Behavioral Expectations:
Students should be engaged in Zoom lessons and refrain from using other applications that are not needed for the class (including other chat rooms, social media, gaming etc).
All dress expectations (see Behavior Expectations) apply during an Online/Home Learning program is in session.
Prepare a space for your Zoom classes that is free of distractions (clean space, neutral background, quiet area).
Communication is crucial for your success. Reach out to teachers and counselors when you have questions or concerns.
Check your email and Google Classroom daily for communication from teachers, and reply to teachers when required.
Complete and submit your assignments by the assigned due date.
All Zoom sessions will be recorded.
Students can stay on Zoom after class or attend Office Hours to get extra help.
Students should not re-share content beyond the audience intended by the original sharer (ex, teachers' Zoom videos).
Students should respect copyright in using materials in any context. (ex. teachers' Zoom videos)
Students should not share information or promote content that is confidential or damaging to the school, its operations, or to other community members.
Students may not privately record teacher lessons and/or post lessons, or any part of, on social media/media.
If any Child Safeguarding concerns arise during online learning, please contact a designated Child Safeguarding Officer (CSO) (Counsellor, School Therapist, Ed Psychologist, Principal, Vice Principal, Heath Officer or Risk Manager) within 24 hours of the concern.
Help your child monitor their homework and classes in the online learning environment.
Talk to your children regularly and ask for daily summaries about their virtual learning lessons, assignments, successes, and concerns. You can ask them to show you their work and ask questions like: What was difficult? What was easy? What questions do you have for your teacher?
Remind your child to use the learning dispositions when they get stuck or don't know what to do.
Encourage you child to attend teacher Office Hours if you think they need some extra help.
Remind your child to communicate with their teacher should they need help, have questions, or need extra help.
Ensure your child also continues to socialize with their friends, albeit potentially virtually.
Encourage your child to get enough sleep.
Set sensible time limits for personal technology use (i.e. social media, video games, etc.)
Help your child establish and follow regular daily routines.
Ensure your child checks their email daily and respond to teachers when required.
Ensure your child logs on to Google Classroom and the Homework Site to check on assignments and due dates.
Allow students to work independently, don’t feel the need to correct all their errors. Allow the the learning process to take place.
Email the teacher, counselor or school admin should you have questions or concerns.
Parents are not allowed to attend Zoom classes.
