Week of September 8-11

Middle School Mixer on Tuesday!

Bible: 

Learning Targets: 

In the upcoming week we will be learning about God's Good Story through the lens of grace and truth. We'll be learning our final lesson, "The Good Father", before we start reviewing for our assessment.

Friendzy: As we start the 2026-2027 school year, unit one of our Friendzy curriculum is ‘Ohana-Stick together! It addresses the important topic of community.  One of our key Bible verses for this unit is Romans 12:9-10 which says, “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourself.” The other is Hebrews 13:1 which states, “Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.” This month our school will focus on understanding how we can accomplish more together as a community of believers than any of us ever could alone.

Math:

Targets: 

This week in math we will continue our first unit in Chapter 1, single-step and multi-step equations. We will review 1.3 after a long weekend before learning our final section of the chapter , "Rewriting equations". We will review after completing the content as we look toward a test next week.

Algebra:

Targets: 

This week in algebra,  we will continue Chapter 1 learning about single and multi-step equations. We will briefly review the first half of the chapter after a long weekend before we head on to our second half of the chapter, absolute value equations. We will wrap up our content for Chapter 1 this week and begin review for our second quiz AND test coming next week.

Language Arts: 

Targets: This week, we will continue reading The Giver by Lois Lowry. This dystopian sci-fi novel is about a 12 year old boy named Jonas. Throughout the reading of this story, we will explore important themes and analyze Jonas' character development.

Side note: If you have read The Giver,  please refrain from sharing any spoilers!

Science: 

Learning Targets: 

In the upcoming week students will learn the five parts of a controlled experiment and improve their particle model for matter with a lab on gas particles.

Homework:  Unit Targets (Green Sheet) - #'s 3 - 5 Due: Friday, September 11.

Assessments: None

Social Studies: This week we will have a test on early American settlement and cultures.  There will be a short answer example and study materials posted on Google Classroom.  We will then begin to look at the origins of British settlement in the Americas and what that looked like.  We will also compare the living conditions and freedoms enjoyed by British settlers vs. the settlers in New France and New Spain.

Assessments: Test on Thursday, 9/10/26.
