Language Arts: 

• Learning Targets:  This week, we will explore the hardships Ha and her family face as refugees and connect the symbols throughout the text to Ha’s family and their experiences.

Bible: 

Learning Targets:

This week in Bible, we will study the book of Matthew.  This study will cover the context of Matthew's call and the historical context of Jesus' life.  We will also explore the idea of "God with us" and how it is one of the missions of Jesus to restore shalom in the world.

Learning Targets: 

This week in science, we will continue our unit on Gravity and Kinetic Energy. This week, we will focus largely on potential and kinetic energy. We will learn a little more about collisions and how energy is trasferred, as well as the best ways to protect ourselves. We will learn the relationships between mass and kinetic energy, understanding if it is a direct or inversely proportional relationship. We will begin review at the end of the week.

Social Studies: This week we will have our first assessment of the year.  We will have a study day on Monday for or first test on Tuesday.  We will then continue our unit about India by further exploring their caste system and how it connects to the Hindu religion.  We will also read Ashoka's Rock Edicts, and explore why he converted away from the Hindu religion.

Assessments:  Ancient Sumer test on Tuesday, 9/22/26.

Math: 

Learning Targets: 

In the upcoming week  students we will learn how to multiply and divide integers and rational numbers. We will primarily focus on mulitplying integers.  In additon, students will be taking their first Fall standardized tests: MAP and Delta.

Homework: 2.1 Extra Practice/Puzzle - Due Wednesday, September 23

MAP Test: Monday and Tuesday.
