What we're learning & doing in class: This week we will be continuing to look at Daniel through: A fiery test of faith, and writing on the wall.

The unit consistently asks: what does it look like to be faithful to God inside a dominant culture that does not share your values?

Learning Targets: We will be discussing how to add and subtract mixed numbers with different denominators and also real life situations.

Learning Targets: This week we will discuss European explorers. Why did they choose to explore? What tools were important to them?

Language Arts

Reading/Writing: On Monday and Wednesday this week, students will be taking the Language Usage MAP test. On the other days, we will continue our shared reading unit on the book Dash, a story about a young Japanese American girl named Mitsi living who is sent to an internment camp during WWII and is separated from her dog, Dash. This story explores themes of prejudice and resilience, which we will discuss as we read the book together.

Band/Music

Band: Full band on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. Keep encouraging your child to bring their instrument home to complete their band checkup! Band Checkup due on Monday.
