This educational activity supports the school nurses’ development of skills and knowledge to effectively manage and improve health outcomes for children with panic and emotional dysregulation by building student and family capacity for self-management, self-advocacy, and learning. This session encourages school nurses to actively collaborate with students, parents, and healthcare providers and to provide evidence-based strategies for panic disorder.
This session shares the importance of school nurses using data to implement quality improvement practices in their school health programming. We will share our journey using data to impact student care through the lens of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) Framework. School nurses will learn how to implement quality improvement strategies for their health office to better meet student needs by using MTSS.
There are many misconceptions among educators regarding the school nurse's role. Educators often have the understanding that the school nurse's role is limited to first aid and medication administration. The aim of this quasi-experimental study was to improve the educators’ awareness of the role of the school nurse in order to improve collaboration between educators and the school nurse.
This program will provide an overview of how school nurses can utilize the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Enhancing School Health Services through Training, Education, Assistance, Mentorship, and Support (TEAMS) Program, a CDC-funded initiative to improve school health services, in their district or state and how it connects to all 5 key principles of NASN’s Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice.
