Right now structural team members with compliance handle survey support calls. We are going to be splitting up the responsibilities for survey support calls into different tiers. starting with Tier 1 Survey Support, this will be handled by the Site Survey Admin team members. Tier 2 will be handled by Engineering team members and Compliance team members.
Tier 1 includes Address help, Verifying the need for roof measurements, and Scheduling support.
Tier 2 includes standard Structural, Electrical, and Roof Survey questions/needs. If a Tier 2 member is unsure they will escalate to a member of leadership or te assigned SME. ie Luke for Structural, Austin F. for Electrical, and Connor for Roofs.
Surveyors will call in to ask for help in finding addresses for customers. Sometimes they will be unable to locate the home due to there being no aerial imagery/updated address info in Google or other resources. The best way to help with these scenarios is to use your resources to try and find the home.
Google Maps, Apple Maps, other map/navigation services
Google search Realtor Sites (Realtor.com, Zillow, Redfin, Trulia)
Aurora
Make sure you are searching for the address in this format
44 E 800 N, Orem, UT 84057
If you are unable to locate the address based off the full address then try search for the address with the building number, street name, and Zip Code
44 E 800 N 84057
For another example if the address we are trying to find is 668 N Main St, Orem, UT 84057
first search the full address 668 N Main St, Orem, UT 84057 if you cannot find it than search with the City and State removed.
668 N Main St 84057
Sometimes removing the street type could even help as the sales rep may have entered it into the system incorrectly initially.
Example of trying without the street type
668 N Main 84057
With all of this in mind, it is going to be best to get the actual coordinates (Latitude and Longitude) and send those to the surveyor. Most of the time they will not have all the resources/tools at their disposal but if we give them the coordinates they can copy and paste those into their navigation app.
Verifying the need for roof measurements:
Go to the design tab look for Project type…..
GIS Mapping
Look up the AHJ’s associated county, then google search that county’s ARC GIS map.
Depending on the county website, the map tool may be hard to find, so you may need to look around a little.
Plug in the customer’s address as listed on the Salesforce account, deleting the state and zip code.
This should drop a prompt on the GIS map for the closest matching address.
Compare landmarks on the Nearmaps feature on SolarGraf and the GIS map (you may need to select a satellite image view on the GIS tool for the landmarks) to find the correct area.
NOTE: In some cases, this method shows the address labeling only the street, which means the house is so new even the county hasn’t fully surveyed the area. Our surveyor needs to only call about a property if they are on site and can confirm the house.
NEARMAPS Lookup
Nearmaps is an interactive mapping tool that is updated much more frequently than any other resource listed above. This means that Nearmaps is very expensive. This means that we should only use Nearmaps as a last resort to avoid roof measurement. Only if you cannot determine the location of the home using all of the resources listed above should Nearmaps be used.
The Nearmaps interface is very simple, once logged in, you will simply select “MapBrowser”
