Advance Certificate in Information Security (ACISE)

This Advanced Certificate in Information Security (ACISE) programme has been designed to prepare the youth to experiment and learn the skills and techniques needed for providing protection and security to our information available in the virtual environment and to make learners both responsible and smart netism.

Two-factor authentication, user permissions and firewalls are some of the ways we protect our private information from outside sources. As defined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), information security is "the protection of information and information systems from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification or destruction." Due to widespread usage of technology, the clientele in need of protection from security threats has been continuously growing. From large global corporations to small startups, anyone using technology to help run their business needs help avoiding security breaches. Data held on IT systems is valuable and critical. We all rely on IT to store and process information, so it is essential that we maintain Information Security.

Programme Objectives

This programme emphasized and specifically stressed on the User’s Security Awareness and Needs as follows:

  • Securing one’s own desktop.

  • Securing one’s own data.

  • Securing one’s connectivity.

  • Secure browsing. (E-mail, Internet application)

  • Secure Internet transaction.

  • W3C Compliance. (What is W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), Practices)

  • Employee perspective of ISO 27000

  • Securing Web servers/ services.

  • Cyber Forensics.

  • Securing in the mobile world

  • Govt. rules in IT Security

This programme also brought out the issues of Authentication, Confidentiality, Privacy, Unique ID and Digital Certification in relation to Security. It will be useful to any serious internet user including home makers or any individual users of the computers.

10th or its equivalent

Duration of the Programme

The minimum duration is 6 Months and the maximum duration for completion of the programme is 2 years.

Medium of Instruction

The medium of instruction of the programme is English.

Programme Fee

The fee for the entire programme is Rs. 5,400/- Only (University may revise the fee time to time. Please check with the advertisement or IGNOU website).

Programme Structure

The progamme consists of 18 credits and has four courses.

1 is theory courses and 3 are integrated (both theory & practical) courses.

The courses are designed on the basis of learning hours required by an average student. As mentioned above, one credit represents 30 hours of learning.
