Netflix is a paid streaming service where you can watch many TV shows and movies such as Squid Game and Minions The Rise of Gru. One membership for Netflix would cost from eight to sixteen dollars which have increased over the years the streaming service has been out.
In January of 2023, Netflix announced that they will end password sharing by the end of March 2023. If you don’t know what this means, this means that Netflix stops people from using shared accounts that do not share the same location. For example, if someone lived in Connecticut and they were sharing a Netflix account with a relative from Pennsylvania who owned the account, the person from Connecticut will no longer have the ability to share the account anymore.
Ever since this was heard by Netflix users, Netflix has been going through a ton of drama because there are many shared accounts on Netflix. This means that people now have to pay for their subscription which is nonsense to many of its users. This is not the only drama Netflix has gone through since many Netflix shows get canceled as they get older which agitates many people since many beloved shows were getting removed.
Overall, Netflix has been getting a ton of backlash for this announcement but the company may not change its decision since the reason that they are doing this is for the money. Seventh grader Joshua Mahabir says “this is food and bad because although Netflix can make money, people who tried to save money now have to pay.”
