Holocaust Survivor, Marion Lazan, Visits WMS

Holocaust Survivor, Marion Lazon,

Shares Her Story with WMS

by Brianna Grinshpun

Recently, our school had the privilege of hosting Marion Blumenthal Lazan, a Holocaust survivor and author of the memoir Four Perfect Pebbles, who shared her powerful story with us. She recounted her experiences as a young Jewish girl living in Germany during World War II.

Mrs. Lazon began by describing her happy childhood before the war. However, her life changed dramatically when the Nazis rose to power and began to implement their anti-Semitic policies. Mrs. Lazon shared stories of her family being forced to leave their home and being sent to a concentration camp, where they lived in unimaginable conditions.

Despite the harsh realities of life in the concentration camps, Mrs. Lazon never gave up hope. She talked about how her family members supported and cared for each other during this difficult time. Mrs. Lazon also shared how she witnessed the horrors of the concentration camps, including the separation of families and the constant fear of death. She also spoke about how important it is to stand up against hate and prejudice.

Mrs. Lazon's story was a powerful reminder of the atrocities of the Holocaust and the importance of never forgetting the lessons learned from that tragic time in history. Her message of hope and resilience in the face of unimaginable adversity was truly inspiring and left a lasting impression on all of us.

We are grateful to Mrs. Lazon for taking the time to share her story with us and for reminding us of the importance of never forgetting the past so that we can work towards a better future.

Woodmere Middle School students welcomed Holocaust survivor Marion Blumenthal Lazan and were fascinated to hear her story of survival.
