*SPOILERS!* In the beginning of the movie, Scott, Cassie, Hope, Hank, and Janet get trapped in the Quantum realm when an invention goes wrong. Scott and Cassie land in a wasteland, while Hank, Hope, and Janet land in a forest. Scott and Cassie land in a local tribe’s village, and they end up fighting that village’s enemy. They get captured, and meet M.O.D.O.K (Machine Designed Only For Killing) and Kang, the main antagonists. Hank, Hope, and Janet travel to a city, and find out that everyone hates Janet.
In the middle of the movie, Janet is recognized, and Kang’s soldiers try to capture her. Hank, Hope, and Janet fight back and head out on a ship to try and find Scott and Cassie. Meanwhile, Scott and Cassie find out that Kang has been trapped in the Quantum realm, and Janet stole the engine to his ship that was his key to escape. Now everyone is trapped with him, and those who try to fight him are killed, and everyone blames Janet. Scott makes a deal that he will help Kang if Kang doesn’t kill Cassie. Scott locates the engine, but cannot fix it. Then Hope sees Scott from the ship, and flies down to help. Together, they fix the engine and return it to Kang. But Kang breaks the deal and keeps Cassie hostage. He tries to kill all the protagonists and fails but hurts them badly.
In the end of the movie, the protagonists hatch up a plan to save Cassie. Meanwhile, Cassie uses her suit to shrink and escape. She breaks out some other prisoners and starts a rebellion. While Scott, Hope, and Janet were fighting back against Kang, they found Cassie. Eventually they start to lose the fight, but then Hank comes with an army of ants that came with them through the original portal. M.O.D.O.K changes sides at the last second to help them and dies. The protagonists go for Kang and Scott holds him off while everyone else uses Kang’s ship to get back home. When they realize Scott isn’t with them, they fix Cassie’s machine and Hope returns to help Scott fight Kang. Together, Hope and Scott kill Kang.
Overall, the movie was good. The acting was fine, but it wasn’t as funny as some of the previous Ant Man movies. They made some jokes here and there, however the movie was mostly backstory. The next Avengers movie is supposed to have Kang as the villain. If so, this was a great introduction for Kang. The Boulevard has asked a few people for their opinion on the movie. Here is what they thought: A student who wants to remain anonymous said, “Ant Man (Quantumania) is kinda mid because M.O.D.O.K is kinda sus (weird).” 6th grader Danir Dzhakhanov said, “I think the movie had wonderful graphics and costumes, but it depends on the person whether the movie will be interesting for them. The storyline didn’t really catch my eye and I hoped to see more of the area where the story was taking place.” In conclusion, Marvel fans would probably want to see this movie for the backstory, but they should wait until you can watch it at home for free.
