The Music Man Comes to the WMS Stage

By Alyssa Brumell

Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man Jr, a junior version of the Broadway musical The Music Man, came to the WMS stage on March 17th and 18th.

The Music Man Jr. follows a con man named Harold Hill, who travels to different towns, convinces these towns to give him money for a children’s band, and then pockets the money and runs. Harold Hill ends up in River City, Iowa, where he stirs up trouble and gets the townspeople to give him money for a children’s band. However, when Harold Hill and Marian Paroo, the town librarian and piano teacher, fall in love, Harold Hill is unable to continue the con, as he does not want to leave Marian.

In Woodmere Middle School’s production of The Music Man Jr, Harold, and Marian were played by Eyal Mizrachi and Emily Liechtung. Mrs. Paroo, Marian’s mother, was played by Yuval Ben-Baruch. The mayor of River City and his wife were played by Corey Adomako and Sophia Abramovich. The stage managers of the show were Aleksander Koroveshi and Sophie Levy. The lead sound engineer was James Brilli. Directing the show was Mr. Brian Villegas, a teacher here at WMS, with Jeremiah Callahan as an assistant director.

There were three shows in total: a Friday night show, a Saturday afternoon show, and a Saturday night show. Tickets were $15 for adults and $12 for students. Each show was sold out.
