As a Federation within Wales we pride ourselves in celebrating our country’s language and culture. We also hold an Annual Federation Eisteddfod in Ysgol Dinas Bran to celebrate St David’s Day. English is the medium of instruction and the normal language of communication throughout the Federation. In accordance with Government and LA policy, Welsh as a second language is taught to all pupils. The process of learning Welsh will develop pupils’ speaking and listening, reading and writing skills. Pupils are encouraged to practise using the language incidentally in school, for example, to greet each other, staff and visitors.
‘Helpwr Heddiw’ is used to support and encourage the use of spoken Welsh throughout the school day. Helpwr Heddiw will lead discussions and ask questions through the medium of Welsh. Criw Cymraeg is developing in all schools to support the use of the Welsh language throughout the day.
