Pupils receive two hours of Music per fortnight in year 7, 8 and 9.
Music is taught as part of the Expressive Arts AoLE incorporating the What Matters Statements:

Reflect & Respond
Create & Express
In Year 7 pupils focus on the Building Blocks of Music, Welsh Folk Music and the topic War & Peace.
In Year 8 pupils focus on the Wider World, The Imagined World and Our World.
In Year 9 pupils focus on Music Production skills using music technology, alonside the study of Soundtracks in film and other media.
The Music department's core Skills Focus is Digital Competency.
Pupils develop their digital skills through music technology, as well as establishing workflow processes in rehearsal tasks.
Music is an option choice for years 10 & 11. Pupils follow the WJEC GCSE Music course. The course builds on the elements studied at Key Stage 3; Performing, Composing and Appraising (Listening).
The music syllabus contains all three elements explored through the study of a wide range of musical genres. The assessment for the course is split into:
Performing - two recorded performances
Composing - two compositions, one free choice and one exam board brief
Appraising (listening) exam at the end of year 11.
