Cymraeg 2050: Miliwn o siaradwyr Cymraeg / Cymraeg 2050: A million Welsh speakers
GWELEDIGAETH LLYWODRAETH CYMRU
Y flwyddyn 2050: Mae’r iaith Gymraeg yn ffynnu, mae nifer y siaradwyr wedi cynyddu i filiwn a chaiff ei defnyddio ym mhob agwedd ar fywyd. Ymhlith y rheini nad ydynt yn ei siarad mae yna ewyllys da tuag ati ac ymdeimlad o berchnogaeth ohoni. Mae yna werthfawrogiad hefyd o’i chyfraniad i ddiwylliant, cymdeithas ac economi Cymru.
‘Cymraeg belongs to us all’ speech by Jeremy Miles, Minister for Education and Welsh Language. (February 2022)
WELSH GOVERNMENT VISION
The year 2050: The Welsh language is thriving, the number of speakers has reached a million, and it is used in every aspect of life. Among those who do not speak Welsh there is goodwill and a sense of ownership towards the language and a recognition by all of its contribution to the culture, society and economy of Wales.
Cwricwlwm I Gymru / Curriculum for Wales
WHAT THE NEW CURRICULM SAYS
All learners should develop the confidence to use both Welsh & English in everyday life.
Learners should have opportunity to use Welsh confidently, within and outside the classroom and appreciate its usefulness in a bilingual Wales.
Access to both English and Welsh helps learners learn about Wales’s rich and unique literatures, geography, democracy, history and culture, to support learners to be active and successful citizens in contemporary Wales.
Developing learners’ ability to work in two languages helps them to develop the skills necessary to learn other languages as they progress.
Schools should ensure that learners develop their reading, writing and oracy skills.
Y Siarter Iaith Cymraeg / The Welsh Language Charter
Nod y Siarter Iaith yw annog plant i siarad Cymraeg yn amlach mewn sefyllfaoedd cymdeithasol. Llywodraeth Cymru sy’n gyfrifol am arwain y Siarter, ac yn eu geiriau nhw, ‘Mewn gair, ysbrydoli ein plant a’n pobl ifanc i ddefnyddio’u Cymraeg ym mhob agwedd o’u bywydau’ yw’r nod. Dros y tair blynedd nesaf, bydd pob plentyn ym mhob ysgol Gymraeg yn cael cyfle i ennill gwobr efydd, arian ac aur. Mae’r Siarter Iaith yn gyfle i bawb yng nghymuned yr ysgol chwarae eu rhan wrth hyrwyddo’r defnydd o’r Gymraeg - cyngor yr ysgol, y disgyblion, y gweithlu, rhieni, llywodraethwyr a’r gymuned ehangach er mwyn sicrhau perchnogaeth lawn o’r iaith.
The main aim of the charter is to create an increase in the children’s social use of Welsh. The Welsh Government 'want to inspire our children and young people to use Welsh in every aspect of their lives'. Over the next three years the school will have the opportunity to win a bronze, silver and gold award. The Welsh Language Charter asks for a contribution from every member of the school community – the pupils, the school council, the staff, the parents, the governors and the community.
