The Eco Council are working towards the RCT bronze award. One of the targets we've chosen to focus on is 'Reducing our Carbon Footprint'.
The Eco Council asked each class to plan an outdoor lesson, that would involve no technology or screens. Have a look at some of the wonderful outdoor learning that has been happening across the school.
To start the 2024 academic year, the Eco Council decided to create their own Eco Code. We used the words 'Eco School' to out line our main aims for the year ahead!
Encourage pupils to walk to school.
Re-use and recycle paper - using scrap paper to draw and write on.
Teachers becoming more efficient with printed resources.
Eating healthy foods that are sourced locally - to help reduce its carbon footprint.
Plant our own vegetables in school.
Help reduce waste from school dinners by talking to our school cook, Mrs Smith.
Switch off any uneccesary electricity when entering/ leaving a classroom.
Litter picking in the local community - weather permitting!
The Eco Council launched a competition to create a superhero to stop littering in our local area.
We had so many entries and the Eco Council found it really difficult to decide!
In the end, this enterprising and creative contributor won!
The Eco Council had a fantastic session with Bryn Pica in the Spring term.
We learnt all about recycling and waste management.
We discovered all the materials that could be recycled, and what happens when we recycle our rubbish!
Children in our Eco Committee have come together to explain the importance of recycling materials as part of our pledge to support COP26. Therefore, as part of our initiative, we would like your support in making that happen. If you have any Toys that are in great condition that are not being used and loved anymore, our Toy Treasury could give your toy a new lease of life!
