We will be:
Instilling a sense of passion and pride in ourselves, our communities and our country that is central to the four purposes.
Developing an understanding of our identity, heritage and history that come together to form a sense of cynefin.
Understanding how the mining industry impacted Aberdare as a town, including population, employment and housing.
Comparing and contrasting life in the Victorian Period with life in Aberdare now.
Learners are building up a body of knowledge about their locality to help them understand how their local area has changed over time and develop a sense of cynefin.
Learners will be developing their knowledge about their culture, community and society, now and in the past.
Learners will gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be Welsh, developing their sense of belonging and what this looks like in local and national
contexts.
Learners will be able to understand and value how feelings of belonging and connection that come from healthy relationships have a powerful effect on our health well-being.

Children can bring a fruit snack to school to eat at playtime. Children should also bring a water bottle to school daily. Please label fruit and water with child's name.
Please listen to your child read at home as often as possible. Reading books need to be returned to school every Monday morning. A new reading book will be sent home on Monday afternoon. Please practice any high frequency words sent home too.
Spelling words are set on Google Classroom or seesaw every Thursday.
Please help your child practise their spellings at home.
Home learning and class information will be shared via our class Seesaw page. Please ensure you are logged on for regular class updates.
PE day is a Thursday. Please send your child to school wearing their PE kit and trainers. In addition, please ensure your child has a water bottle on this day.
