The children will be enquiring into:
Understand how the changes in sustainability have affected Wales, including the industrial revolution.
Inspiring learners to engage with the most important issues facing humanity, including sustainability and social change within Wales.
Nurturing curiosity to help learners understand and appreciate how and why places, landscapes and environments are changing;
Developing an understanding of the interrelationship between humans and the natural world to heighten awareness of how the future sustainability of our world and climate change is influenced by the impact of those actions;
Exploring the connections between societies and communities through religious and non-religious beliefs.
Learners will be interpreting and synthesising information to build upon and further inform their understanding of the world. They will be challenged to be curious, to question and think critically about the world around them, including impacts of deforestation.
Learners will reflect on the actions of others and challenge these. They will engage with local, national and global challenges and opportunities so that they can imagine possible futures and take social action.
Learners will develop an understanding of how human actions in the past and present can affect interrelationships between the natural world. They will understand their role and responsibility towards nature and recognise how they can help the wider international community.
Learners will have opportunities to develop an enquiring mind to stimulate new and creative thinking about the climate emergency and the natural world around them. This will help them understand human experiences and the natural world better.

Children will need to bring their book in to school every day. Please take time to read with your child daily, in short bursts, using the guided reading questions below to support them.
PE day is every Wednesday. Please make sure children wear appropriate school uniform and footwear on this day.
Homework will be provided every Friday.
Homework tasks will include spelling, reading, time tables and additional tasks when they are relevant.
There will be a spelling test every Friday. Please see the spelling strategies below to use while supporting your child at home.
Each week, your child will read with the class teacher, alternating between independent reading and guided group reading. If your child has finished their current reading book, and both the parent and teacher agree they are ready to move on, a new book will be provided. The teacher will record the title to keep a record of their reading progress.
Thank you for supporting your child’s reading journey.
When you read with your child, please use some of these questions - and ones of your own/ more suited to the text they are reading - to challenge their thinking. Your child may be able to read the text well; fluent, accurate, steady pace, with expression. However, do they understand the context of what is happening? Are they able to make connections or make inferences about what the author is trying to convey? 3 or 4 questions either during or after your reading session will improve your child's reading and help them synthesise and evaluate what they have read.
Please go through a variety of spelling strategies with your child to ensure they have multiple ways to spell a word. They may be asked to practice their spellings using a particular strategy week on week. Use these strategies to support you.
J2E is a fantastic resource that your child has access to through their Hwb accounts. Every day your child will be practicing their times tables and spellings in a guided reading rotation, as well as through daily routines in their literacy and numeracy lessons. Many parents ask how they can best support their child at home. Not only is J2Blast a familiar starting point, it is also fun and engaging that will keep them entertained for hours!

What’s the best thing about being a teacher?
The best thing about being a teacher is having the privilege to watch children grow — from their very first days in Nursery all the way to Year 6 — and knowing I’ve helped prepare them for the next step in their journey. Every day is different, full of moments that make you smile, think, and feel proud. Teaching truly is the best job in the world!
What is your first memory from school?
My first memory from school is taking part in our Christmas concert. I remember the excitement of dressing up in costume, learning all the songs with my classmates, and practising our lines over and over. The big day came, and we walked to the local community hall, filled with parents and grandparents. I can still remember the smiles, the clapping, and everyone singing along. It felt magical and I still love Christmas concerts just as much today.
What would your last meal be?
This has to be the toughest question as I absolutely love food! But if I had to choose, I’d go with a classic Margherita pizza (with garlic bread on the side, of course) and my mam’s Welsh cakes for dessert. They’re the best — nothing else comes close!
