Abstract: At this point and time, students are going into the workforce without developing the necessary skills to be successful in their place of work despite the various opportunities that are available to develop collaboration, creativity, and analytical thinking skills. This study focuses on high school students in Allegheny County with the utilization of a survey method in order to determine how informed these students are of these opportunities to develop the above soft skills. In general, it was found that students were relatively informed of ways to develop collaboration and creativity, while almost none of the participants knew of opportunities to develop analytical thinking skills suggesting that it may be beneficial for schools to try and further integrate analytical thinking into school curricula. With the rapidly changing needs of the 21st century workforce, it is more important than ever before for students to possess the foundational skills that will allow them to be as successful as they can at their work.
