Abstract: Within this field of research there was a gap; that being, how do shorter breaks such as three day
breaks or two day breaks fare differently than summer break in regards to AP student stress? The
participants of this study are from a medium sized suburban Highschoolers, meaning freshman
through seniors who are all taking at least one AP and or CHS class. For clarification, CHS
means college and highschool classes; they are akin to AP classes. Methods used for this
research consist of a two part survey as well as two trial periods for said surveys. Findings
include that there was a correlation between length of break and stress level. That means, there
was more stress over a two day break then there was over a three day break. With this data one
can conclude that students do feel more stress over shorter breaks such as a two day break, this
can clue administrators within townships to look at this data and take it into consideration when
planning breaks for students to make sure their stress levels stay low and healthy.
